No.

If anybody understands the Fergie way of doing things it then it would have to be Ryan Giggs after his 20 odd years at United, on the one side he has no experience managing but with the right assistant and team backing him it could work, whether it would be successful is another story.
Would probably appeal to our american friends The Glazers as well, wouldn't cost as much as a Mourinho or Guardiola and would be seen as continuing a legacy which would appease "some" fans.

Oh absolutely no, he has no experience at all.

I want someone who has won things and has the respect of the players as a manger, so they will trust him and his plan in big games, in finals, when under pressure etc.
That isn't Giggs

It's an interesting idea actually. Didn't Guardiola do the same thing at Barca?

I think Giggs has won a few things. A player who wouldn't respect him isn't a player worth having.

I think you have to consider Fergusons perspective here.
Whatever we might think... if Ferguson likes the idea... then it might well happen.

It's probably realistic. What top manager would want to come to United to be a Glazer puppet?

The future:
Ole Manager
Giggs Assistant
Coach G Nev
Reserves ScholesOr maybe not, but its a nice thought! Giggs as manager is a non starter for the immediate future.

What's he gonna do in a european final, what's his plan, his approach, will he have the total belief of the players who will carry out his commands because they know in their hearts that it will result in success
The answer is no
Lots of club legends take over their teams, and shitness abounds, and the fans can't understand why because everything in their heads seems so perfect
We must at all costs avoid a Dalglish situation, cos that would set us back 5 yeara

Yeah but Dalglish is a fucking relic, whereas Giggs is the epitome of the modern footballer. Plays in different positions with different game plans, has prolonged his career through a sensible lifestyle and training, has seen a lot of different tactical approaches come and go (Queroz etc.), has played in just about every tournament imaginable, and is all round level headed and sensible except where his knob is concerned. He seems like exactly the sort of player that you would expect to do well in management, like Guardiola.

A lot if assumptions there, bman. And there are still glaring holes. A great player does not make a great manager. If anything the opposite is true.
But assuming he has the footballing side nailed, which is a massive sweeping ridiculous assumption... can he handle the pressure, can he cope, can his family, are they prepared.
We simply don't know. And it's too much of a risk to take with the Glazer finances being what they are. We can't afford a few lean years or a few utterly shite expensive signings.
I really don't want Moyes, but I'd back him over an untried and untested club legend because at least he answers some of the managerial questions.

I'm not saying he'd be a definite success, I'm just saying the idea is not ridiculous, and if this is what Fergie really wanted to do, I'd definitely keep an open mind about it. In terms of mentality and psychology, I'd have no worries about Giggs. He's seen it all before. Out of all our current or recent players, I think he might be best suited to becoming a manager.

What would be funny... if Giggs decided to make yoga a mandatory part of training... see Rooney doing the lotus.

Fergie won't support this, I remember him saying that his successor would 'obviously' have to be very experienced manager - United are too big to have a young manager etc.
Sir Ryan Giggs? No no no. Sir Paul Scholes say.Posted 11 months ago # -
Giggs will take over from Docherty and shag the players wives.
