lol...go for itCheers for your help re upgrading the Android. I found a video on Youtube on how to get Froyo onto my phone and was able to upgrade that way. I found a link off that website you mentioned and will see if I can get 2.3.3 on the phone.
I feel (slightly) less retarded. Thanks.

my cousin says his macpro has frozen once in the three years. that is all.
basically, this is my requirement ...
priority is to surf - on the move and also in house. i have a wifi network at home so that is all good. if my ladyfriends is working on my computer, i want to be downstairs checking out shit on the net - but i want something portable - i travel a lot for work , so chilling on plane or at airports. watch a movie or just fuck about on the net.
i don't want to be carrying around shit loads of cables and crap.
money is not so much an issue as have been saving a year for this but i dont want to fuck up as an ipad is still some cash as is a netbook.
what do you think?

Cloud computing is where the programs you use and many functions are not on your computer but on a server good examples are stuff like Microsoft's Live Mesh or Office online or Google products like the Office stuff they have, at some point most companies especially smaller one´s will use cloud computing more than installed products due to the costs and overheads at some point being cheaper than other methods.
Android is the Mobile OS from Google as im getting my first Android mobile tomorrow I cant say that much ask the captain there.
The next Google phone the Nexus S is Samsung based but will not have the UI that pissed sheesh off as its been developed by Google and Samsung.

sharepod is good for importng and bacing up tunes on your ipod...bscally you bypass the nazi and fasciist ways of apple.
to get free apps on your iphone, ipod touch or ipad...you would need to jailbreak the device....you have to be careful here as you would have to choose a program suitable to the software version and modem version you have on the said device. (settings, General, about.....etc)
for example...with an iphone 3gs with 4.2.1 firmware (software and a modem or baseband of 5.15..you would use green poison rc5 (i think) to jailbreak....MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW INSTRUCTION TO THE TEE WHEN ATTEMPTING ANYTHING LIKE THIS...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....ITS WORTH INVESTING A FEW HOURS RESEARCH TO GET YOUR SELF FAMILIAR
once jailbroken, cydia gets installed...then you would install a source through cydia which allows you to do weird and wonderful things to your device...one of these is the ability to download apps free through various repositries, via hackalous, which will show up as one of your apps on your springboard.
for surfing etc, an ipad or likewise device with wifi (as standard) and 3g...you can do all the above and more.....i'd personally go for a minimum of 32gb storage to get all apps music and porn on.....they do a 64gb version too.....however...a portable netbook running windows 7 is worth a look and alot cheaper, but battery life and style goes out the window
on generic ipod classics.......sharepod is god imo as a piece of software....
*** just stay away from itunes once nay device is jailbroken...as it is a cunt and will delete off apps/music/porn you have on there if you ever need to reinstall software.
there are alternatives on the web for backing apps etc up....google is your mate here
and you need all the fucking mates you can get

CLOUD COMPUTING FOR THE MASSES WILL NEVER TOTALLY EXIST 100%, AS rOBBO HAS SAID BEFORE BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE IN THE MAJORITY OF THE WORLD JUST AINT UP TO IT...ALSO, ALOT OF COMPANIES DONT WANT SENSITIVE DATA OUTSIDE THEIR OWN NETWORK.
also if we did ever have to go that route for things, theres always away round thingds...vpn tunnels to dodgy repositries etc........personally i'm not worried as the cloud has its advantages as well as disadvantages

Danni, as Robbo says Android is an Operating System thats fucking ace.....its quick, easy to use, looks good and more open source...advantage with that is you can ask developers to add or subtract things from the apps etc in order to make you end user experience more rounded...in contrast apple would do fuck all, and you would have to pay more for the apps etc...alot of excellent apps on the android platform are free of charge.....some are not but many a good one are
also you are not restricted to apples hardware here...HTC make the worlds best mobile devices imo, and their products are awesome.
GSMarena is worth alook at to vindicate this statement
as a moot point, Windows new mobile os windows mobile 7 looks good too.....its no coincidence that Android devices and HTC phones are outselling Apple currently...theres only so long you can keep winning through brand, where eventually substance will outdo style...yeah apple products are good but they are no way the best..their marketing is best for sure

seriously, sounds as if it's better if i come over to Stoke to get you to customise all my kit. will tickle your balls too.
i like the sound of the above, apart from the fact that i am a teckno mongo and i might end up destroying the fucking device.
i though apple was hack proof ... but it's not Captain proof, and I'm not talking about eating it either ...

Right, I think my phone is now actually bricked. I tried to be a bit too clever and install a custom rom on my phone and it has backfired.
I downloaded Darky's 9.5 then copy and pasted it onto my internal SD card.
I tried to switch my phone on and then off. Phone has come back on but is stuck in Galaxy S screen. I cannot get into download mode or in recovery mode. I cannot switch my phone off...well it goes off for a few seconds before coming back to the frozen Galaxy S Screen.
Please can someone help me? I promise not to try any nasty shit like this again!
Edit - PC is not recognising phone.

Right, I somehow managed to get into download mode after some panic fannying with the battery and buttons on my phone. What do I do in download mode?
Fucking Android.
Fuck's sake, what was I thinking?

I completely disagree... cloud computing is the way forward for the "new world order"... I'm not talking about the conspiracy nuts' "new world order"... I'm talking about this one, the world that is going through a huge change, as it tries to come to terms with the "new global economy".
Fuck it, it would take pages to explain what I mean... and I'm not sure I could do it justice anyway, to be honest... I'm not that clever... but the point is... governments, corporations, banks... they want to control our lives, they want to influence how we spend our money, who we vote for... etc... they want us to work harder, but ask for less, they want us to be content with our lot, and not complain.
Information is power... computers and the internet have given the masses more information than they've ever had... information we're not supposed to have... the only way to control how much information we have is to control the information source.
Cloud computing gives the internet back to the authorities, they will be more easily able to monitor what information people are sharing.
Their reasoning will be to fight child porn and exploitation, combat terrorism, national security, etc... but the ultimate aim is ultimate control.
Like you say... it won't really be total... there will always be an underground... but the average person will not be able to take a shit without the authorities knowing what they had for breakfast.
It's a few years off yet for sure... but it's coming.
Mock if you like... but what would your fathers have said, to walking the streets, and being filmed by cameras, just about everywhere you go? To spam advertising that seems to know what age and sex you are, and in fact seems to know what you've been shopping for lately?
We're already being monitored, and manipulated... and they're not doing it for our securuity, or convenience... even though that's what they claim.
I'm 50 years old, and the difference between the world of my childhood, and the world I live in now, is staggering... the world of tomorrow makes me sad... but the world my daughter is going to live in when I'm gone terrifies me.
"Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we don't need badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges, you god-damned cabrón and ching' tu madre! Come out from that shit-hole of yours. I have to speak to you."Posted 2 years ago # -
Well said Alf, nice one!
FFS, Isn't it ironic that in Post-War Germany, they the bad guys, are defending civil liberties more than in Briton? There would be civil outrage and mayhem if the authorities here were ever to implement so many camera-"spy"-shite on the streets, yes we do have em here, but on a very lower scale.
Privacy used to be an accepted word, highly held in regard, now it seems to be a dark "what you got to hide" word where certain people who themselves have no decent bone in their bodies use against you.
