After the Suarez verdict... surely, Terry must get the same.

But as England captain and all round ... *ahem*..."swell guy"... will the FA have the guts?

If they do, then Terry must surely lose the captains job... again... and if they don't, then Liverpool will have a strong argument of double standards...

I think if he's proven to be guilty he's fucked for good - his play has been shit recently and the CPS have just been authorised to press charges. Beginning of the end for El Cunto.

I hope not. It's this sort of thing which would make people think twice about reporting incidents of racist abuse.

It's not enough to be racially abused. Now you may end up on the wrong end of a character assassination from the perpetrator.

I think he'll be found guilty though... from what I've read, the perception at the trial was that his defence was a load of bullshit.

Hmm, I don't know as the evidential burden that it needs to cross is high and the lip reading experts readily acknowledge that their evidence is fraught with inconsistencies. If he is found guilty then I imagine the sentiment will be that he isn't a racist but said a racist statement. But it probably won't be the end of it as Terry will fight it.

Either way the ramifications are huge. For John Terry it is fairly evident, although the FA will cop a lot of flak for their handling of it. If he isn't found to be guilty then what now for Anton Ferdinand? He shouldn't be treated as such, but will look like the boy who cried wolf and will have a big impact on other players speaking out, particularly over elements of racism.

I'm not convinced it should be a crime in the first place, but Terry's defense was laughable, the video evidence extremely compelling, and Cashley's testimony a pathetic transparent effort to dodge saying anything concrete at all. But if Gerrard can get away with punching some guy in the face in a pub on video, it would be inconsistent for Terry to be condemned for almost certainly racially abusing another player on video. This shit, plus the Glazers. Every week there is another reason to feel like a fucking idiot for watching professional football.

Hey... I'm not a great fan of Platini... but there is no way in this world or any other, that he'd be as bad a president as Blatter... that man shouldn't be in charge of his own toilet needs, never mind FIFA.

And at least Platini is a proper football man as well.

They must be fairly confident of banning him, they'd look even more ridiculous if they did this and didn't. Probably why he felt the need to 'repeat' what was said, rather than "what are you on about/ hearing things, never said that". Or at the very least do him for foul and abusive language.

Hah some of the comments underneath are priceless. One Chelsea fan wanting Anton charged with "baiting", predictably 'welshscouser' saying that choc ice is the same as calling someone a negro and should be banned for 8 games. Another suggesting that it was all a conspiracy from Ferdinand and Anton to get the England captaincy for himself and that it has backfired. He retweeted a comment, suggesting that Ashley Cole was fake, shouldn't have done it. Interesting the FA said that Terry is still available for England selection but nothing about Ferdinand.
