And some think Moyes is over rated...I don't know why people think that when he consistently works miracles every season withan average Everton squad and no cash. If we can't get Pep Guardiola when SAF retires, then I'd assume Moyes would be a strong candidate.

This is probably gonna go against the norm, but I'd rather see Moyes succeed Sir Alex when he eventually retires than Jose Mourinho, as seems to be the popular suggestion, I'd be intrigued to see what he could do with a bigger transfer budget than he's had up to now.
Oh and Sunderland's win yesterday really amused me. Seeing Liverpool lose when the result is of no consequence to our own team probably shouldn't be so entertaining, but it still is!

Didn't realise that City had a goal ruled out in the 88th minute.
Gray and Keys will not be amused when they see who made the decision.
It was a superb decision as well.

Swansea's goal is class, but shocking defending from City... They give it away, then let the cross come in, then leave the goalscorer fella unmarked
And that City fan starts blubbering like a wimp. Honestly, he's not even crying, he's blubbering like a total bellend. There are 10 games left FFS.

Good football managers are a dime a dozen... but the great ones have two key ingredients... good players, and the ability to get the best out of them.
In my opinion, tactics and strategies are over rated... they're important, for sure, but worthless if your players won't stick to them with enthusiasm.
You go through football history, and you'll find that all the best managers, were the ones whose players would run through walls for them... Moyes is one of those... his players are average, but they give him everything they've got... year after year he gets Everton to mid table, and sometimes better... with one of the lowest cost teams in the Premier league... what could he do with real talent?
He's also got, what is for me, another very attractive quality... stability... put him in charge, and you'll easily get 10, maybe 15 years out of him... to continue the work Ferguson started 25 years ago.
There's a saying in American baseball, where managers are more involved in the game than most team sports... "the best managers won't actually win you many games, but the bad ones can lose you plenty".
The point is, tactics are fine for arm chair managers who, with hind sight, can analyse the fuck out of a game and point out what the manager could/should have done... top managers have their tactics and methods, but their biggest strength, is their ability to get the best out of their players... give those managers the best players, and success is pretty straight forward...

i like moyes but would much prefer him to come on board a couple of seasons before SAF goes - putting him straight in the deep end will be too much for anyone

His role at Everton is similar to Fergie's at United -- he's the boss of everything football-related, an old-fashioned manager's role. Getting in some foreign manager with a good track record could totally backfire if he's not used to the Fergie-style role

Alf, I agree that the really good managers have that man-management, psychological edge. But what I like about Moyes is that he's actually very tactically astute. He doesn't get players to run through walls for him because they like him, it's because they know he knows what he's doing, and he'll get them to run through the right walls. But yeah, Benitez and Villas-Boas show what happens when you get managers who are just all tactics wankery and don't master the other part, the human part, of it all.
There's not many managers, if any, I can think of that i would be more excited about than Moyes. Yeah Mourinho gets results, but he's an embarrassment, and he considers himself bigger than any club, and he'll happily embarrass United if he thinks he helps him before he fucks off someplace else in 2-3 years. Most continental tactic-y types couldn't handle the old fashioned British manager's role, they've never had to deal with the scope of responsibilities that Fergie (or Moyes) has.
But best of all, I love the fact that every season, I'm optimistic whenever our title rivals play Everton, because you always feel like there's a good chance they'll drop points, even if Everton seem to be doing really badly at the time. Moyes doesn't just get good results with little expense, he deals with problems like having no forwards for a whole season or more. Plus he's found and developed quite a few young talents, another important part of the fergie role.

Huge win for Arsenal and well deserved.
Maybe it helps that they're not fighting for the title but they've shown of lot of character this season. They lost key players like Nasri and Fabregas before the start of the season and got off to a shocking start but they've stuck at it.
Many questioned whether they would even finish in the top 4.
Arsenal fans should also be happy that they've got someone like Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on their books. Podolski could be a snip at under £11 million for a 26 year old who's performed in the World Cup.

hope they carry that momentum into the game against the bitters thats all

Arsenal looked more like their old selves against Newcastle fluidly moving from back to front in a few decisive passes
They have won their last 5 games while Tottenham have lost their last 3... Bottlers gonna bottle

7 now... sure puts our showing against that shite, into perspective... don't it?

That's the difference between the best teams in Europe and ourselves.
The other teams don't sit back and put their feet up when they take a lead. Ribery and Robben is a far more lethal combination than what we have.
Mario Gomez has scored 11 hat tricks in 2 years or something ridiculous like that.

Well so much for the Renties putting up much resistance against the Bitters... they'll be knackered.

Chelsea don't play City until 21st March so they have plenty of time to rest. They have Leicester in the Cup at the weekend so they might rest a few players. I hope so anyway. 4th place has to be a priority for them.
How in God's name have Napoli managed to throw away a 3-1 lead?
