   @Day – it’s not the BBC, why shouldn’t I express my opinions? And I do almost always offer a reasoned argument (there’s 800 words of it above by the way) but I’m sick, utterly sick, of flag waving Glazer lovers telling me who I should support. I support United and if that’s the best Glazer fans have got (almost always it is) then they’re much better offer reading the club’s PR spin. I don’t believe that being a supporter involves burring my head in the sand to what’s going on at the club and I don’t believe Ferguson is either absolved from blame nor telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but either.

   You’ve let your anti-Glazer stance cloud your entire view of the club and the manager, and it makes for increasingly boring, pessimistic and agenda-driven reporting. Nothing gets published on this site without a dig at Fergie and the Glazers.

   Ozil and Khedira would have been nice, but they went to Spain. Get over it. Sneijder? Yeah, he’d have been nice too, but wanted a move to Inter and still wants to stay there now. And Milito wasn’t free, he went as part of a cash + player deal with Genoa.

   You seem to have a fantasy wishlist of players you’ve seen and want us to buy, and if Fergie signs someone outside of this list you get uppity and blame it on the Glazers. The market DOESN’T have value at the moment. Just look at the idiotic sums splashed by City on Milner, Balotelli and co. Barcelona unable to pay their players’ wages because they spent so large.

   If Fergie had signed Solskjaer back when this site existed, you’d be kicking up a fuss and demanding to know why we hadn’t bought Stan Collymore or Dean Holdsworth.

   Just relax, stop viewing the club with such disdain and trust the judgment of the manager and his scouting network.

   @Clayton Beardsmore – what fantasy list of players has been printed on this website? None. Happy for you to put a different view but basing your argument on false reporting of my opinions weakens your position completely.

   I’m sure lots of other clubs were saying the market didn’t have value when United spent £30m on Rio, Veron, Rooney and so on. But in truth there’s value everywhere – Ozil, Khadeira, Sneijder, Milito, Canales, Cole… I can go on. That’s not a list of player I wanted, its proof there’s value. City aren’t getting value but that’s clearly not the point. What there isn’t is funds to build a squad and compete. My bet – when Neville, Giggs, Scholes, van der Sar, and Hargreaves leave next summer we’ll still not invest then either.

   3 fantastic young signings, Chicharito is already a legend in my eyes and will guide us to european success, Smalling is quality back up in the mold of a younger Rio, thou not seen much of Bebe beside clips, i believe the portuguese kid will be a fantastic recruit. Chicharito and Bebe will be our wild cards- exposive talents.

   Clayton, thing is the vast majority of our recent signings (bar vidic, evra) have been shit...we are signing more and more no marks....when we signed ole, we were also signing the Keanes, coles, yorkes, sheringhams, Ruuds and stams of this world too....now we are signing players, of whom some ranters have had more football experience of.....

    Oh well we missed out on Ozil, Silva and Cole. 3 players who could have definitely upgraded the squad.

    TBH transfer fees were never the issue on any of those, the main problem was the wages. Madrid, City and Liverpool were prepared to splash out on a weekly basis, United were not.

    In a way it is good to see United setting the example by not spending silly money, but still without the Glazers United would actually generate the money to be able to spend big. Other clubs are simply overusing their overdraft or have some billionaire to bail them out.

    All this criticism of Ferguson and the Glazers is entirely justified, in my opinion...

    But I don't much like the criticism of Smalling and Bebe... they may be inexperienced, and they may even turn out to be shit in the end... but come on ffs...

    Smalling is a big young lad with obvious potential, and Wenger was interested as well... and let's not forget our premature opinions of both Vidic and Evra... both proved to be great signings eventually.

    And Bebe... was supposedly signed on the recommendation of Carlos... who Fergie just gave a character reference for in court, who is still very good friends with Fergie... surely there must be something to him. Another big strong, athletic, young lad...

    Even if their signings are the result of the Glazers telling Ferguson to shop on the cheap... I don't believe for one second that Ferguson would buy complete nobodies, without some suspician of potential... and I also don't believe the Glazers would sanction money spent so foolishy.

    Fuck me... let's give them an honest chance, before we label them shite.

    I have no problem with the Fergie bashing... he's flying his flag with the Glazers now, so that makes him a legitimate target... and the Glazers themselves need no further encouragement to detest.
