    Started slowly, and I was thinking here we go again, same as last season, but after that we carved them up. Great performance, well happy with that... There's no pleasing some people!

    Scholes absolutely superb, a player of supreme skill and balance. With him in this kind of form Ozil will probably not be signed. A true one-off and incomparable.

    Happy with that.

    I do wish we would stop falling into this annoying habit of arsing about when we're in a comfortable position and potentially looking vulnerable when the other side pull a goal back. Had Newcastle scored when we were 2-0 up, I would have been a bit worried.

    All in all, though, we were in control. The goals were all well-worked. Giggsy's was superb for the quality of the execution but I loved the build-up to Berba's.

    Tonight did highlight Valencia's inconsistency with crossing. He has more than enough quality in every other element of his game...but he needs to work on his crossing.

    Moment of the match: When Newcastle fans thought they'd won the singing contest yakking on about how Shearer turned us down (this went on for a couple of minutes)...only to be spectacularly pwned when the United fans responded with "Shearer took you down".

    The Geordies didn't sing about Shearer after that!
