forget Diarra and Cattermole. We need to offer Spurs Carrick and Anderson and £10m for Sandro - seeing that we are already going to get Rodwell. That lad is the nearest thing to the peak Vieira. Sensational engine/lung power, technique and tackler. How on earth did he escape our scouts and he ended up at Spurs? How? That boy in our midfield along with the twins and we will not be going to away grounds and be bullied.

Imagine a trio of Sandro/Rodwell/Rooney in midfield. Valencia and Nani wide of Hernandez. We will go to Anfield and tell those bindippers to bring it on!!! Have a bench of Berbatov, Park, Giggs, Gibson to call on...

By the way... along with the Rodwell rumour, is one that Ferguson and Rooney have fallen out... Rooney to be sold come summer.

Anyone watch the under18s against Liverpool? We won 2-3 after being 2-0 down.

Ravel Morrison oozes class, he's going to be a hell of a player - provided he sorts his head out. I can see him sneaking into the first team on the left next year - even more reason to get shot of Obertan this summer. Tunicliffe looks like a mean fucker too, not sure if he's the new Nicky Butt or the new Ronnie Wallwork though. Pogba is quality - but he didnt really have a good game and got sent off. Larnell Cole also has silky skills.

Maybe Cap... but he's played at every level for France... and the French know a thing or two about midfielders.

But the story seems to be based on the fact that Fergie watched the Rennes v Marseille game. Can you think of another possible explanation for why Fergie might have watched that game?

A few top managers had scouts at that game... and from what I've read this guy heard about Uniteds, Liverpools, Reals, and Spurs interest last year and said United was his "dream team"... make of that what you like, but I think there might be something to this... quite a few sources covering this story...

Not much more of a risk than when Chelsea bought Cech.

Cech was slightly older, but he'd also only played two years in one of Europe's best divisions.

He had international experience, but he hadn't played in European finals the way De Gea has.

Lots of talk still about M'Vila and Rodwell, although of course a lot of these papers and websites just repeat one another. Makes me wonder -- would we really sign both of them? They both sound like definitive defensive midfielders, and I wonder if we're just pursuing one as an alternative to the other in case it falls through.

I think we're doing the same thing with Keepers, hard to say which is the one we actually want the most, and which is the most likely to work out in terms of dealmaking.

The thing is, United has a poor record developing keepers... our best keepers were established class, before we bought them... Shmikes, VDS, Bartez... whenever we've brought in reportedly top rated potential, they've flopped... Howard and Foster???... some would say, they just weren't up to the job, or couldn't handle the pressure... but could it be that our coaching let them down? Especially Foster... he's been excellent for Birmingham... did we bail on him too soon?

I'm all for taking a chance on de Gea... if he comes good, we could be sorted for 15 years... but you've got to accept the risk that comes with a keeper of his age... no matter how much natural ability he's got, you can't do a damn thing about his lack of experience, except give him time...

Yeah that's a good point about our record with young keepers. Keepers and central midfielders are our weakness. Fergie never gets it wrong with Defenders or wingers, and is usually right about forwards, but our record for central midfield and between the sticks is pretty woeful, both in terms of transfers and developing youth.

He's not a closet dippers fan, he's quite open about it.

The whole nature of journos discussing transfers is that its speculation and guesswork. All he's said there is that United are defo interested (as we probably are in other keepers) and the club dont have a problem selling.

I'm all for critising journos who say WILL rather than could, but I think Balague makes it clear that the De Gea transfer is dependent on a lot of factors and it is in no way a done deal.
