Well, we've stolen a young centreback from City and we tried and failed to sign Benfica's Javi Garcia.
So chin up guys.

Guardian says Morrison's agents are holding up the deal by demanding a million quid for themselves. This kid is a fucking idiot, he's as bad as Tevez. These parasites will ruin his career.

I was looking at some of the old posts on this thread - its been going over a year!!! I said that signing DDG was a big risk - proved right on that one for now. The problem is the perception of what you are going to get. If Fergie had slowly brought DDG in things would look far more rosy. Unfortunately if you compare our GK situation to our rivals then they all have better starters in the GK position, but we have the better depth. Could be said for many areas of the pitch.

When you look at our transfer over the past three seasons, starting with Ronaldo's sale, it's more or less a zero net transfer spend. But then look at what's happened to wages from players retiring or sold: Scholes (presumably again after this summer), Neville, Hargreaves, Van der Sar, O'Shea, Wes Brown, Gibson, Obertan, and we can expect that some or all of Berbatov, Owen, Kuszczak, Diouf, Beba, Macheda will be on their way this summer too. You combine all those wages, and that must be a fuck lot of money every week. So the penny-pinching is happening at both ends of the equation.

United have snapped up 19-year-old City central defender Freddie Veseli in a shock transfer window deal
The Reds tied up the Swiss starlet, who captained his country to Under-17 World Cup triumph in 2009, yesterday – and Veseli headed into Manchester, dressed in a red jacket, to celebrate.
Veseli was seen as a good prospect at City, but he was frustrated at not making the breakthrough into the first team squad. That frustration increased recently when the Blues lost skipper Vincent Kompany and drafted 17-year-old defender Karim Rekik into the squad as cover.
Veseli joined City from Lausanne in 2008 and is a composed, ball-playing centre back – he was taken on the Blues’ summer tour of North America, playing in two of the three games.
City have used him quite a bit. And he's a ball playing centreback.

So it turns out that Fergie was bullshitting, again, when he said we absolutely definitely aren't going to sign anybody in January

even the unknown teenage shitehouses we sign are never midfielders anymore

"Badges, to god-damned hell with badges! We have no badges. In fact, we don't need badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges, you god-damned cabrón and ching' tu madre! Come out from that shit-hole of yours. I have to speak to you."Posted 1 year ago # -
Do you think we are going to buy anyone of note in the summer? Rodwell, Clyne, Zaha, Shaqiri, Eriksen?? We normally buy three. I think we will spend alot less than the approx 55 mill we spent last summer. Not much money coming back in either, the Pig, Matt James, Josh King, Macheda, Owen, Norwood, De Laet not worth alot of the players probably on the way out. I'd expect Giggs and Scholes to sign one year contracts and make next season their last.

"...and has been tipped to eventually develop into a central midfielder."
Looks like we have plans to turn Veseli into a midfielder. Why can't we just sign one?

clynes contract runs out in the summer so we'll probably sign him

I think we'll get a defensive midfielder and a forward (probably someone who can play in the hole and on the left). Maybe another young striker too. No clue who these will be though. I'd also expect Giggs and Scholes to re-sign.

Maybe Fergie signed this City kid so he can tell our youngsters how shit life is at City - then our youngsters will take what we offer them rather than threaten to leave/hold out for more lucrative contracts
Bit of a stretch?

I don't understand why bale doesn't play for us
Posted 1 year ago # -
Rodellega is another possibility, ferg is happy to do business with whelan. Bale would cost 50 mill, we are never going to spend that.
Posted 1 year ago # -
Yeah but the 2012 version of Rodellega is shit, even the 2010 version wasn't that good
Posted 1 year ago # -
We could do better but this the 2012 united in the transfer Market, would fit the profile. In the mid 2000s we were in for pedersen of Blackburn but bought ronaldo and nani instead. If that was now we would have gone with the safer bet ie pedersen.

The other thing to note that united is becoming less about superstars but more about a winning culture and a system. If we win the league this season it will again show that you win the league as a squad and not as a bunch of individuals. Quite refreshing to see, but we are still in the culture of marque signings.

United are willing to pay for young talent, e.g. last summer's signings, provided there's not a bidding war with the likes of Real, Chelsea, City, Barca.
If you're looking for value signings, other than Clyne, I'd suggest McCarthy, Joe Allen and McClean may be of interest.

I think they went out on a limb with De Gea. It may yet pay off, but its not a good start. Stekelenburg and Lindegaard were the safer buys.
Rodwell, Rodellega, Clyne, Shaqiri, Eriksen, Zaha in the mix. Having said that its a very hard to call this summer. Prices very high for those at the world cup # no value in the market
