Bale just signed a new contract- Not going to happen.
Mail say weve had a 30m bid for Rodriguez rejected. I dont know which part of that is more mental, the 30m bid or the fact they rejected it.

We've done all our business... Fergie and Gill like to get it out of the way early, and then go on vacation.
The rest is just tabloid speculation, and Club press manipulation and spin to keep the fans enthused, and convinced that there's money, where there clearly isn't... gotta sell those season tickets... we all know the rhetoric by memory now... and it will be spouted with much hand wringing and apparent disappointment, for all the gullible - "United till I die" - "United, Kids, Wife, in that order" - hoards, over the next couple months... but never mind... Fergies got a great squad of players, and he'll be happy with what he's got... etc...
Anyway... "In Fergie We Trust"...
Right?

Funnily enough, Alf, check out the twat on the red cafe link above who thinks we don't need to spend money. To be fair, everyone else on there thinks he is talking bollocks. It's idiots like him who irritate me no end.
Always thought he was a good player but 25m, seriously?

Seems high but still a lot less than Modric would cost and he's a year younger. Just probably speculation anyways...
When asked if he is hoping to make further additions, Sir Alex replied: "Yes, there's a possibility. We’re working on one or two things but there’s nothing really to tell you to be honest."
Yeah... and this...
and this...
Cal will love that last one...
Well I hope Berbatov stays and is used more, however i can't see it if we are playing 4-2-3-1. One signing to come, from Palace probably.
Yeah, I can see us making one more cheapo signing... but our big money business is done.
Where's Herbie and his £150 million war chest bollocks?

Well, that's finally done.
And what's up with Fryers?
Fergies latest comments are a perfect prelude to his usual 'no value' bollocks.
Fergie says no contact between fryers and club. Expects him at training.
Times say there has been no contact with everton re baines. Not too surprised given his age and to be honest quite pleased. Don't want Evra to go yet. Evra has at least one more good season in him while we wait for fabio.
Feel sorry for berba who looks set for another season on the bench.
Fergie says he will give fletch every chance to recover. I assume that means no cm signing. Sad for fletch though, sounds like another Hargreaves type situation.
Sounds like Sahin is available from RM. we should should definitely go for him. Good passer, Will be v. affordable and only 23 - likely to be another RM reject come good.
Anyone else think Nani might take missing out on the no. 7 shirt badly?
Pogba was an odd episode from the start, but if Fryers goes then you really have to question the motives of young players these days. Perhaps they are being brainwashed by agents. Surely staying at United is the most beneficial thing for his career at the moment.
Its increasingly about money first, but if you make the right decision for your long term development the money will come in the end anyway like it has for Welbeck & Hernandez. There is only one club bigger than United and that's Barca. Fryers is a Manc too. Stay and he will be battling it out as Evra's successor with Fabio - a battle he could win.
3 signings a summer....interesting about Nani, he could do. I would sell if the money would be directly reinvested but it won't - it will go to pay off debt.
Not sure about youngsters staying at United is a good thing for their careers.
No one has really made it at the club recently, the jury's out on Welbeck. Evans will be a back up player once Vidic's back.
Reason no One has made it recently is that up until 2009 ish our team was one of the best. Difficult to breakthrough into that. Also, if these youngsters believe in themselves they'll assume they'll get paid wherever they go. Without a personal connection to united why stay?
I find it interesting how many of barca's youngsters are desperate to return (I think alba is another one). I think there's more to it that just there on pitch success. Shows that it's good to sometimes let players go, but do it in the right way. I guess our problem is our top prospects are foreign and idolise different teams.
If Fryers is any good, then he raises the same question as Pogba... why are these players being allowed to run down their contracts?
Seriously... this is obviously a senior management decision, probably the Glazers... but I'm not having a go at the Glazers... just asking... what is the thinking behind this policy?... because it seems ludicrous to me.
Anyone know?

Not sure about that. Mind you, I agree that they SHOULD love United so much they would never want to leave. But is it the best thing for a young career ? Being in team thats always a championship contender which means that you wont get as many games as in a mid level club, and you're competing against much more experienced internationals?
Not unless there is something else (coach, mentoring etc) that makes up for the lack of competitive games. And our track record is spotty at best. After the golden generation of Becks Giggs and Scholes, has there been that many? fletcher i think. Now Wellbeck, promising but generally unproven. My point is not to knock our Academy system, I am sure its very good. But is it significantly better than any others? I dont see the evidence...although happy to be proven wrong..

i can't fathom it either. every fucking year that passes, we don't sign a top notch central midfielder, and fergie says that "young people can surprise you" etc. then, when a proper game comes around, he plays an unfit fletcher, a back from retirement scholes, an aging giggs, and park in the centre.
is it any wonder that these kids won't have to patience to wait around? they need to be fucking playing games. take pogba for example - he was too good for reserve level, the only way of motivating him would be to give him cameos as and when appropriate, and then, if he does well, give him more responsibility. ferguson gave him no more than a couple of first team appearances last season, opting instead to field half fit, non-midfielders in midfield.
and after not giving him chances to prove himself, we don't pay him what he deserves because he needs to prove himself first. i can fully understand why pogba wanted to leave.
fuck, just thinking of some of fergie's decisions recently makes me blow a fuse.
we need to rest evra - so, we send a talented kid like fabio out on loan, and let fryers run his contract out. and then consider signing baines.
he usually prefers to play phil jones/smalling over rafael at right back, so that a young centre back doesn't get to play in his best position, and rafael doesn't get the chances to develop.
and then there's the central midfield situation.

Feeds into the notion that he's losing it a little bit. As you say the sending Fabio out on loan and letting Fryers run out his contract whilst Evra needs resting makes no sense at all. Midfield wise I think he's stubbornly holding onto Anderson coming good, Cleverley staying injury free, Fletcher getting better, Scholes being able to last the season and Giggs still being able to contribute. 5 players to cover 1 position. If Carrick goes down injured we might be in trouble, an idea that would have been laughed at a couple of seasons ago.

Pogba and Fryers are players who are in positions where United are looking to bring in new blood due to retirements or ageing players i.e. Scholes, Giggs, (Fletcher) Evra. Both are only 19, if you are like Norwood and 21 I would understand it.
I would like to know what goes through these players heads. Tunnicliffe, the Keane bros & Powell look like they get it so keep the faith with them. Pogba, Fryers and Morrison can take their attitude elsewhere. There's a trend there and its a bit disturbing if its true. A flaw maybe, glad I don't have to make these decisions!
It's just setting up to be a real difficult season with the signing of Kagawa the only positive news. I want a strong showing in the CL but I'm not sure this team is able to do any better than last season's abysmal campaign. I'm hoping we'll still sign a top CM playmaker but my optimism is waning.
Powell and Kagawa is a good a haul in terms of midfielders that we were going to get.
We will probably be without Scholes Giggs and Fletcher for 2013/14 so they will have to invest next summer in another midfielder. Once they go we can rely on Carrick, Anderson & Cleverley.
Have Kagawa or Powell played much in a midfield two? Its likely Anderson/Cleverley/Scholes/Giggs are going to get injured, which leaves us just Carrick!
hopefully carrick gets a season ending injury the day after the window shuts, let's see what happens then
I think things have to get worse at United before they get better, the way things are going these days. Sad.
