Fix it Ed..lottery tween the Rant Oldies here...otherwise your up before a select committe.
Things like this should be split between rant forum members and poster son the articles....50/50 split with Forummers having to have made 200 posts plus....etc etc

What about relatives?
yeah Uncle Alf and Cousin Hormone are 2 that love you Ed
are all the winners sat together?
FFS, If you are a winner, it is clear you have never been a regular on this site..
BTW Ed, i THINK IT IS ONLY FAIR AND PROPER THAT A LIST OF ALL THE WINNERS ARE PUBLISHED..
YOU KNOW
....JUST SO MYSELF AND OTHER REGS LIKE ALF, SID, RED, BRI, SPIKE, TEL UNKLEKNOBHEADFFS, SHEESH, HAN, TRIGGS, MONG, PIKEY, BMAN, MADRED, ETC ETC....just know it is pointless entering these competitions, as loyalty is clearly not rewarded...and any random cunt who hovers around newsnow can benefit for rewards they clearly do not deserve

ffs... embarrassing

Cap – did you really want me to fix it? There are more than 10 regulars on here anyway. What would your loyalty scheme be? I’ll try get a few more freebies to give away through the season.
nice.
partly mollified.

No, not at all Ed, what i want is that random blokes who come across the site don't have the ability to exploit an opportunity. Especially since there are guys on here (and i don't mean myself in this either) that contribute articles or add value with their opinions.
Now, i know you are always going to get opportunists, but the guy asking if he can sell the tickets because he already has tickets is clearly taking the piss.
Yes, i know there is an element of "luck of the draw" etc etc. however, I feel regulars should be put on a pedestal and given an opportunity as these guys come day in day out, and even though you have to attract new punters, you have to give the guys who are the heartbeat a better chance than some person who is only making an effort when they see a way of profiteering.
As for the loyalty scheme, like I have said earlier. A fair split would have been half the tickets for forum regs and/or article writers (with an acceptable contribution policy of either posts or time scales etc. Of course this would need policing), the rest to help bring new punters in with guys either using twitter, facebook etc.
By the way i'm not bitter because I have not won, as to be honest i wouldn't have been able to go this weekend as my lad is playing football for a new team and i would not want to miss his debut. I'm upset that none of the guys i have known on here for donkies years are not going (as far as I know) and i'm perplexed and disappointed as to why that has happened. Again, i know there is an element of luck, but i'd have been chuffed to fuck to have seen at least one of Red, Sid, Alf, Han or even Spike to have won (sorry Spike)...in fact any of whom we consider long term ranters...not some fucking newbie that's contributed fuck all and never will unless there is something in it for them.
Is it just me or is the point of a competition like this to attract new memebers onto the forum to make it more successful?? I didnt win I just wondered if all the winners were sat together and if ed is going, where are you sitting? I bought tickets through Man Utd btw. I think that 'regulars' moaning they didnt win is slightly pathetic but I agree you should be rewarded for your commitment and maybe ed could come up with something.....
If you have read what i put up above, you will see i have covered all those bases and more.
Asher – partly the competition was to “give something back” to the community. Ok so it attracted new people too. They might stay, they might not. The winners should feel good about it.
BTW I got accused of “selling out” for taking the competition in the first place. For all the commitment regulars put in – they do – I put in a hell of a lot of time building and maintain the site, doing the pod, writing content, producing the mag and don’t get anything concrete back – no freebies, no cash, and mainly just abuse and complaints!!
On the tickets I don’t know if the winners are sitting together, I’m not handling that it is McDonald’s PR company.
you didn't sell out, you took advantage of an opportunity...all the regs know that Ed, and are thankful. But that doesn't change the fact people will profiteer from your commitment and the regs
I just hope Morrissey doesn't come across this site though...McDonalds
he will kick you in the eye
if one of the regulars got the tickets itd do great things for rant, especially as city will beat us, i think if i won the tickets and went to wembley to see us lose to city id open four new topics when i got home about how we're in decline, along with the obligatary fergie out topic
lol
Cap – look I understand the grumble but I think that’s unrealistic. It’s a competition, winners drawn at random not selected based on subjective criteria. That was offered to me and I saw some value in it for the community. If I’d be offered 20 comps for free then ok. Or if I’d bought them myself, ok.
By the way the other prizes I’ve given away – four books, two shirts, ten G&G scarves I’ve bought, paid for and posted myself. At my own personal expense.
But even then if I had selected people myself based on patronage that would have caused uproar too. In fact that’s what I accused Ferguson of doing when loaning kids to Peterborough recently. Ok, so maybe nobody would have cared a whole load if I’d done that… but I’d then have to explain why each person was selected based on some fair criteria. An impossibly difficult task since I have more than 2,000 people in the database registered. What criteria? Most posts – open to abuse. Best posts – subjective, based on what? Longest on site – based from when and where’s the cut off.
Fair point Ed, but surely there could be something done. I think I have to be clear as I don't want to come across as being ungrateful, I am not, but the fact everything you do does involve time, money and effort makes it even worse when people try to profit out of it and give nothing back to the site in return.
Imagine the PR firm involved interviewing said winner, and asking how they won the tickets, "oh just went on some random site and won them.." that type of thing, what are they doing for Rant, it doesn't testify to the quality of writing or the extreme, provocative, funny and painfully honest input of its members and site owner does it?
These types wont promote Rant as they don't know it from Adam. However, as I have said above, if half the tickets went that way and half to guys who have shown loyalty either in the forum, articles or comments (signed up active members etc)then i think everyone is a winner as you entice potential new punters that may offer something and you keep the regs happy. At the end of the day it is your articles and their debate that will ultimately want them to stick around if they are serious in doing so.
BTW I hear you load and clear about hypocrisy and nepotism etc, but wouldn't it be nice though to have a site that shows that its loyalty and commitment to the site is rightfully acknowledged and in turn the regs reciprocate this by staying loyal to you. I cant think of a better way to entice new members than being part of a community like that, but at the same time (like yourself) I cannot think of a way that it can be done fairly...maybe the others can suggest some ideas.

We love you for all the wonderful stuff you do to enhance our united supporting experience, btw I would like to give back by offering my help with the mag and writing content, how do I get started?
ffs Asher (Drag Queen Name?)
is the back hurting now?
If I wormed my way up Ed's bum, would he even pay for my flight over?
To be fair you might as well – everybody else does!
Bit fed up with all these negative comments. Been a follower of Rant for over a year now. Don't comment much but enjoy all aspects of the site.First United game was the 1963 FA Cup Final and have been to hundreds of matches since (1974/75 season went to every game in the old second division). Now unemployed and due to an expensive divorce have not been able to get to matches much in the last 7 years. However a mate, also a United fan of many years, is paying for the petrol etc (I live in rural Wales). So, am I deemed not worthy to have won these tickets? I actually think I am. I think I am just the sort of person who should win, someone who, under normal circumstance, would have no chance of getting to this game.
You win then? Congratulations, nice one. Of course you deserve to win them, just like any of the rest if us would. First person to post out of those who won the tickets, and your first and last posts before today were in October which, and I really mean no offence and hope you enjoy your trip, kind of proves Cap's point. Sites like Rant need more people contributing as well as reading. I hope that the competition and others like it achieve that, because Christ knows we're a set if boring cunts otherwise!

talk about missing the point
ffs
captainhormone-Talk about being a complete arse. Not missing your rather laboured point at all.Apparently you don't want anyone to win who is "some fucking newbie thats contributed fuck all and never will unless there is something in it for them". Let me try to explain as simply as possible. I am what you would consider a "newbie".However, and you may find this hard to follow, I have been a united fan for years, not one that has been sucked in by the success of the last 20 years and I tried to point this out in my previous comments ie I may be new to "Rant" but certainly not as a United supporter-or doesn't that count in your book? Or maybe that is the point! You don't want United supporters to win tickets to a United game, just long term supporters of "Rant"! And when,in your esteemed opinion, does a "newbie" become a regular that can emulate your status? ffs
