Fergie doesn’t get enough credit for benching a senior pro who cost £30 odd mil in favour of a couple of young kids – one of which who came through the youth team in Welbeck
How I wish he could fit into our system, but sadly it just dosent seem to be the case. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth when i feel were mistreating such a talented footballer. The money probably helps him sleep though.

He should be criticised for that buy. Berba’s a top player but he didn’t fit in Fergie’s system. It wasn’t Berba underperfoming imo, that I can understand.
Fergie screwed up here. If it weren’t 30m he’d have sold him, he just squeezed the maximum he could out of Berbatov to nullify the impact of the price.
In my opinion the problem wasn’t just Berbatov… it was also Rooney.
I think Fergie saw the Berbatov/Keane partnership, and thought Berbatov/Rooney would be the same, only much better… so did I.
I saw Berbatov as the pivot, that Rooney would buzz around, playing off of Berbatovs great close control, and clever flick-ons…
But Rooney is just too effective and comfortable dictating play, not feeding off of it… and so Ferguson tried to get Berbatov to play further forward… but Berbatov isn’t direct enough for that.
If we didn’t have Rooney, he’d be first choice… not fourth.
I don’t like the criticism Berbatov gets… I don’t think he did a thing wrong… it just didn’t work out… but fact is… without him, we don’t win last year.
I hope he is remembered well by United… at times, he was pure class… and he deserves to be remembered for that… not all the time he spent on the bench.

Aye, that’s what I think n all. Berba is fiercly talented and x factory, but we just couldn’t accommodate him in the first team.
He’s left us with some great memories though, like when he signed on deadline day, and Fergie raced down to the airport in his car with the Skycopter in hot pursuit, hehe class.
Heh, can’t disagree with that
Spurs was a good fit for him
He always looked a cut above, and never had to alter his game or adapt – he just had to be Berbatov
Seriously…we should credit SAF for dropping Berba and promoting Welbeck – I mean, like seriously someone said that!!!?
Maybe if it was a Guisseppe Rossi, Manucho, Frazier Campbell; I’d give SAF more than credit…but as long as it is Welbeck, I’d take a (literally) one-legged Berbatov anyday!
Berba-magic…I will personally miss and support wherever he moves to!
tonight against fulham, this one player would have been the difference between the butt clenching last 15 minutes that were served up and an adequate 1-0 win. what berba has done to deserve this treatment from saf we shall probably never know, since he is not the kind of guy to kiss and tell the media seagulls, but short of kidnapping saf’s extended family and selling them to the bulgarian mafia, it is just totally incredulous that he wasn’t given the last 20 minutes…really leaves me with a bad feeling that saf has really screwed up this guy’s resale value too
Sir Alex would have been sacked in another industry for the purchase of Berbatov and how it has turned out. NEVER was going to be suited to our style. Not even close. We play with wide men hugging the touchline and pass it wide quickly and cross. Meaning we will not accept a centre-forward dropping deep when the ball is about to be whipped in.
Even if we did not have Rooney he would have been way too languid for us. To fit him in we would have had to alter our personnel totally and play a different way.
He should just go. Please. His talent has never been in doubt. Not one player in the team can touch him for sheer ability.
Aren’t we just about to change our system? Wouldn’t he be more suited to the 4231? I think he’ll leave but I blame Fergie for wasting him last season. He comfortably has our best goals per minute ratio and I think one of the best in the league.
You can afford a languid player or two out of 11. Don’t think it is Rooney who has cost him a place but our immobile CMs who last season were hugely helped by the active pressing from both Rooney + Welbeck. Having the likes of Rio, Evans, Carrick and Scholes in the core of your team is bad enough when facing a team willing to run and press. Lack of options at CM meant we couldn’t give Berba the free role he could thrive in.
nice one Ed
you should send these to Unc
He’s gorgeous – such a cool fucker
We’re just not going to be as cool without him

Sir Ryan Giggs? No no no. Sir Paul Scholes say.

fantastic player
frozen out for reasons only known to SAF
never 4th choice in any other team

if hed wanted it enough he couldve made it work for himself
he’ll swan off to another spurs type small pond where winning dont matter and ambition doesnt exist and look a million dollars again

when has he ever actually come on and helped us see a game out though, its never happened, he just increases our level of faffage
“Faffage”… lol…
faffage is what was required in the last 15 minutes on monday to ensure a win
Berbatov is mine!
Megan you say?
Welcome Megan….
I’ve been told I look just like Berbatov.
if he was in Canada, and old and sat in a fuckoff big chair (wank chariot) while surfing the net.
I live in England Mate… have done since 94…

i got the wank chariot right though….
