Poll: should Rooney ever play for United again?

Sir Alex Ferguson says that Wayne Rooney wants to leave Manchester United and has not respected the traditions of the club. In an extraordinary press conference at Old Trafford today the Scot said Rooney had been injured – despite the player’s denial – and that the striker told the club in August he no longer wanted to play for United.

The United manager said he was “bemused” by the players decision and that the club has done “nothing but help Rooney since his arrival”. Although a contract remains on the table, according to the United manager, Rooney says he will not sign it.

The question now for United fans is, given the players “disrespectful” attitude and awful performances, should he be given the chance to play for the club again before he is sold in January?

He’s contracted until 2012. We don’t want to pay him for doing nought. He’s fucked up. I hate him. But I believe he deserves one last chance to be forgiven. He has done enough in his time to deserve that.

  3. No, on the assumption that he’s not going to grow up several years overnight, understand what a complete tosser he’s been and issue the mother of all apologies.

  4. Are we in a position to replace him though?

    I doubt it

  5. NO!
Why should we let a player who wont play for us, play, when we should
    be building a new team…

  6. We need the money so he needs to play and play well. We all know he’s going to city so we just need to squeeze as much out of them as possible.

  7. Of course he should. He s bigger than the club.
He is comming to a stage of his caeer where he needs to jin a club going forward not a one declining like ours is at the moment.

We need him more than he needs us.

Replace him? he has been absolutely no use to use since March

And we’ve only won 3 games and have been dominated by Sunderland, Bolton and Fulham

I don’t think we’re in a position to give it the typical United “he will be replaced” bollocks all the while the Glazers own the club

You seem to forget that our attack is not at fault, we have been very good in that area. We have a shit midfield and our defence have been extremely lacking-only reliable player is Vidic. All we can do now is to hope we sell Rooney at a decent price and get a decent midfield (even more hoping there).

  9. Let him rot in the reserves or make him train on his own until Jan

  10. There’s two sides to every story. I believe the shite Fergals come out with is exactly that! And possibly the worsed bit of spin to ever come out of his lying mouth. For him to say that “He does’nt know why Rooney does’nt want to play for the club” Sums it all up for me. The mans bent as a nine bob note in my opinion and the sooner he fuckin retires the better.

Without his 25/30 goals we will suffer greatly

Amd Rooney spends so much time in midfield, where we need creativity and energy

You’re talking as if this is a post-Rooney team, but it isn’t

He is a top, top player in an increasingly average team. If he goes then this season is a write off, and the financial implications of that are dire

    • he is’nt playing well this season . the goal tally so far speak for itself . as far as i can find out berbatov is stuffing him . rooney has scored one goal so far . he has scored 7 . even micheal owen has scored more goals (3) i will rememeber the rooney of last season not the rooney of this one . if he wants to go he is gone .

    • Spends much time in the midfield!
But you always favoured the 4-5-1 formation with Rooney up front, as last season when he was good.

not good enough to put on the shit at the moment anyway.

  13. Fifthcolumnblue says:

Rumour has it that the minute the cameras left the training session at Carrington today that Gary Neville went right through Rooney’s ankle and Rooney had to be stretchered off in agony.

Now that might please a few of the baying mob, but it certainly won’t increase his value in the transfer market. Just think – if Rooney can’t be sold in January because he’s injured, then you’ll get next to nothing for him as he’ll be able to buy out his contract in the summer for about £5million.

  14. Ashwyn Sapry says:

NO, his form is pathetic and doesn’t look like it will get any better soon, imagine if he scores , will he celebrate, the fans are now against him.

His personal life is in a mess and his attitude is in the toilet. SELL the bugger to CITY for 100 million pounds. Sell him to a shit club for the best possible transfer , with the new european rules coming out, City will be toast.

  15. David Finnegan says:

If he wants to leave there isn’t much to do except say good luck. However I would like to hear the real reason behind his request.
One can that Fergie was wrong to push out Stam or Becks. But on this issue I think he is genuinely bemused.
What happened between May and August to make Rooney decide he wanted out.
As SAF said, only a few months ago he was talking of staying for life.
Has Coleen told him the only way to save their marriage is to leave?
Well, the fact that he is considering City seems to put that to bed.
So its not even to get out of Manchester that he wants to leave.
SAF says they have never had a falling out. Which until I hear differently I have to believe.
So if its not a falling out with SAF and its not to save his marriage, what is it?

Is it possibly the lack of star buys?
Would a star buy have settled in as quickly as Chicarito?

Or could it simply be that he just ‘fancies’ a change?

  16. Rooney’s form is dipping and dipping.
It’s clear that all the recent problems happened around him do have a big effect on his form.

However, as he wants to leave, and he could leave United for as little as 5 million in the summer…. SO, IT’S TIME TO LET HIM GO…

United should sell him and try to get as much money as possible. Then bring in the new top class striker.

    However, another thing that I would like to point out from this saga is the fact that;

One of the main problems that make Rooney want to leave, apart from his problems with SAF and the money saga, is… THE LACK OF QUALITY SIGNING TO IMPROVE THE CURRENT UNITED SQUAD. After the selling of C.Ronaldo, Rooney feels that the club should sign new top class players to replace the Portugese star. It, unfortunately, never happen (Due to an enormous debt). United only adding the quantity (to sit on the bench) but not quality to the squad, and that make Rooney feel very upset. He feels that the gap between United and Chelsea is getting bigger and bigger in EPL, while the team like City (with their new owner)is now, in terms of quality, ahead his current team. In UCL, the team like Real and Barca are stronger and United may have only little chance to win the title again.

Lets look back to this summer, why top class players like Silva, Y.Toure, Milner, Balotelli, etc. all choose to move to City instead of United??? (Things like this never ever happen in the past).

Is it only because money??? The answer is “NO”. Apart from money, the reason that make these top players choose the blue instead of red is simply because these players do feel that City (with their current Owner) do have a much brighter prospect than United. Mancini do have money available to sign top class players and bring success to the club, while for us, though D.Gill keep on saying that we’ve got money available for SAF, apart from Berbativ, no other big signing happens since the Glazer took over and take control of the club.

All of us knows that United currently do have an enormous amount of debts created by the Glazer. SAF, however, keep on praising that the Glazer is GOOD for Man.United. The problem is WHY he keep saying that??? Why Fergie choose to stand against the fans? DO YOU TRUST SAF???

I see that Fergie set out in detail the events that took place and yet you fail to say on what basis you disbelieve everything he said.

Rooney made it publicly clear on countless occasions that he wanted to stay at United for life so why has he suddenly changed his mind?

If anyone looks dumb, it’s Rooney.

I feel sorry for Fergie. After everything he’s done to protect the player, despite his very stupid on and off the pitch shenanigans, this is how the bastard repays him. You should be fucking ashamed of yourself to call yourself a United fan. Twat.

Of course Rooney looks dumb we all know that Sir Alex Ferguson is a master when it comes to playing the press, before believing all the speculation as to why he wants out I will first wait to see if Rooney comments on this, which he should.

  19. he soud defo play. core nd get his value up to the max before we log him a few months in the reserves will do fck all for us or him

If you watch the press conference you will see that Fergie never actually alludes to the reasons why Rooney wants to leave. I’ve never seen the man look so disappointed.

Rooney can say what he likes but, at the end of the day, only a few months ago he was talking about staying at United for life. Nothing at the club has changed so substantially that can excuse such a sudden change of heart. We’re still financially buggered, we still have a very average side, etc etc.

  21. herbie simms says:

Rooney is only going to Man City because Man Utd have already informed him that they have a bid of 50 million from City for him to transfer in January. If Chelsea were putting up 60 million, then he would be going to Chelsea. But Man City are the only club with this kind of money and ready to do busines now. Its all about money! No other club is willing to put up 50 million at this time. Once they get this money, Fergie and the Glazers will be smiling all the way to the bank. They know Rooney is not that great of a player and definately not worth 50 million. If City give me 50 million, sure I woild take it. I bet SAF uses just 10 million of that money and buys some unknown 19 year old from IRAQ that no one in the world has heard of and tells the United fans that this young striker was recommanded to him by Osama bin Laden and he will be the next Rooney.

  22. not that great of a player? what colour is the sky on your planet ffs
even when hes shit and not scorin hes still better than most,

  23. Aye

If he was as shit as some people make out, why is have all the top European clubs declared their interest?

  24. He won’t ever don a red shirt.

Don’t you see, SAF never wastes breath. Why did he held the press conference in the first place?
    It’s not a pre-match conference about Bursaspor, it’s not a post-match conference.

i can see the only explanation: the deal is done and dusted, and we’ve got to move on.

  25. herbie simms says:

Rooney is a different kind of character, is a fighter, plays with a lot of determination and can score goals. But he is not a classy player, not much skills, has a lot of drive. You can see by the way he is playing now, he has lost his desire, needs a change to get his football back on track. Berbatov is a brilliant player, but he has not always been popular or scored many goals for United because the players playing around him are not of his calibre. If SAF had more world class midfielders in the team, they would be able to read Berbatov’s moves and he would score more goals. You have to know how to feed and play for Berbatov.

  26. captainhormone captainhormone says:

no…pointless to play him…no value now to do so….

giving him game time knowing he is leaving, is depriving our next potential great player (that will leave…like Macheda or Hernadez) to develop properly.

Truth is, for the sake of Football, and stop shite clubs like Citeh or Chelsea getting world class players, based on zero history etc.. we need a big fuck of Arab sugar dadddy to stem the flow of this bollocks happening…its time the “proper” big clubs sorted this shite out once and for all.

    I can dream

  27. And in the summer we asked ourselves what’s the point of having 10 strikers.

It was all settled back then!
i don’t believe that SAF saw nothing of Bebe. What a man!

    Chicharito is our new Solskjaer.

  28. Alfonso Bedoya Alfonso Bedoya says:

Supposedly, he went off on a stretcher in training… he probably has no intention of pulling on the shirt again anyway.

  29. he should never wear the red shirt again, sir alex saying the door is opened, i know wat i would do, slam his shrek head in it!

Don’t know if you’re being serious or not, but yes, I thought it quite poignant.

  33. herbie simms says:

SAF should not be wasting 8 million on a player and using him as a spectator. Lets see what the team will be for tomorrow against BURSAPOR. The worry for SAF will be the away game at Stoke! Another draw?

What’s Lee Sharpe doing these days?
He started playing sh1te so Fergie got shut. Rooney will go the same way. Celebrity Come Dancing strictly on ice in 2 years. And Paul Stretford will still be taking 20%.

But God help him if he goes to City. The Tevez furore was nothing compared to he’ll get.
