Bonjour, et bienvenue à la deuxième Euro Cast! In this week’s show Ed & Paul look back on the first round of games from France, where the hosts beat Romania through a stunning Dimitri Payet goal, England drew with Russia and Bastian Schweinsteiger scored for Germany. It has been a week of fine goals, some good entertainment and the odd surprise. And two brothers going at it without compromise.

Last week’s competition winner is Andrew Yaxley who wins a £25 Art of Football voucher. Congratulations, Andy!

This week’s prize is a print of your choice from the fantastic Cal Dilgart’s Belle Epoque poster series. Just tell us what’s the funniest moment of the tournament so far not involving Jogi Löw! Tweet PaulEd or Cal with your answer and make sure you use the hashtag #rantcast. Or drop us a mailer. Due to postage costs the contest is open to UK / Republic of Ireland listeners only.

If you love the show you can show your appreciation by leaving a small tip and a review on your platform of preference.

too much to ask for the track that’s played? It’s been in my head for what feels like forever!

Best player I’ve seen so far is N’golo Kante who might not have the physicality or pizzaz of Pogba (or Matuidi) but his positional play, anticipation, and energy are formidable. He not only breaks up opposition attacks but, rather like Makalele before him, he makes the team better by linking defence and attack with simple passing – and a very high ratio of completed passes, too.

No wonder Schneiderlin cant get in their team! Your description of Kante is what I was expecting from Morgan last season. I’m still hoping that JM will get more from him than LvG ever did and that it was the latter who made his first season with United so underwhelming. Could be wishful thinking on my part unfortunately.

Impressed with referee Clattenberg. He is much improved from the shocking performance he put in during the 3-5 debacle at Leicester.
