Also to sack him right now would be mental, when we're still fighting for second.

Nobody on here has suggested a suitable alternative.

Ancellotti is free - can't do much better for attacking football and pedigree. People have suggested Tuchel, Sarri, Allegri. I'd add Jardim from Monaco.

Ancelloti is old and has always been a gun for hire in a European-style club system, director of football and all that. He’s reallly good at what he does, but he’s not at all what United need now. We need to get off the fucking merry go round. If we are going to replace Jose, we need to replace him with someone who builds on what he’s done and someone who is going to stick around for 4-5 seasons. We’re just not set up to change managers every two years, it’s a very expensive disaster.

It’s probably best to stick with Jose another year **unless** the club’s very favourite choice is available this summer. A bit like the way City stuck it out for a while just waiting for Guardiola. The problem is he might storm out anyway, and he might sell off all the exciting players in the meantime.

Ancelotti would be hopeless. He really didn’t impress at Bayern. Just another who has been left behind in his thinking.

No point sticking with Mourinho. We wouldn't be top 4 if de Gea wasn't having such a great season - even by his own standards. We're in year two and there's no sense of a plan or anything. A new manager is a risk but we know what we're getting from Mourinho - and it's going to be expensive anyway.

Plenty of options other than Ancellotti. We won't get anywhere if we can't see beyond the coaches of our rivals.

There's Blanc who is still without a club. Tuchel is heavily linked with Bayern but he is still available. If United really wanted to look for a manager I'm sure plenty will be available.

It's not just the defeat, the manner of the defeat is whats embarrassing. We have very good attacking players in Martial, Rashford, Sanchez and Lukaku. But still didnt have the balls to attack.

As for being second, we just lost the league by Christmas without even giving a fight. Not just because of the brilliance of City, but also because we always play to not lose. If we are going to continue with the same next year, I don't think we are getting anywhere near City.

Jupp Heynckes has suggested Tuchel would be the right choice for Bayern, when Heynckes steps down. He has said he wants to finish at the end of this season, though Bayern are desperately hoping to persuade him to stay on for another year. If he does, then Tuchel might be a real good move for us. He's the sort of modern manager that could really get the most out of the attacking players we already have.
To be fair though, Mourinho has brought some stability and has delivered against what I suspect his targets were for this season.

At the end of the day it boils down to would another Manager make things better? After Ferguson stepped down we rightly thought that Moyes wouldnt amount to much as he was simply out of his league at United, then Van Gaal who had a proven track record who didnt really ignite things either.

Whether we like it or we dont with Alex Ferguson we hit the jackpot and finding another Manager who can emulate what he achieved is nigh on impossible, doesnt mean that if we could find another manager who could takethings forward that we shouldnt try but as the saying goes sometimes it better the devil you know.

Another manager would make things better in terms of the football we play. It'd be more attractive than Jose's cowardly conservative shite. We might not challenge for major honours but then we're not under Jose anyway, so at least we'd have better football to watch.

Now it seems like we're watching dross for no reason. The "masterplan" against Sevilla, those punishing fucking 135 minutes without trying to score, was ultimately pointless. Likewise all the horrendous away games for the last 2 seasons were we've played for a draw - pointless. We're 16 points off top.

Klopp at Liverpool is an example. Liverpool aren't challenging for the title but they're playing great football and they can hammer anybody on their day. It shows his football works so there's hope for the future. If he had our squad, or Chelseas or Tottenhams, I reckon he'd be the closest challenger to Pep. Because that scouse team isn't great. It's the weakest of the top 4.

Whereas none of us, and clearly some of the players, are still not convinced by Jose's football. It's not working, it's not making us challenge for major honours. Alright we're second, and we'd win the league if it weren't for City. But City are real, they exist, and they've set the new benchmark so second is irrelevant.

Our expected points are higher than it "should" be. While you can call it impressive we win games it tells another story that we've gotten more points than we deserved.

Last season there were a lot of draws and the general talk was "we would've won the league if not for these draws" bla bla. Not here but elsewhere..

This year apparently every point is deserved when in fact every advanced stats tells another story. DDG is top 3 in faced shots both from inside the pen area and outside. We should be around 4th-5th place.

https://experimental361.com/2018/01/01/ ... -dec-2017/ This is only until dec but it would probably be worse now.

https://understat.com/league/EPL

Here you can see expected Goals(xG), expected Goals against(xGA) and expected Points(xPTS). You can click on each and see how United drop serval placements. So united have about 14 more points than they should and City around 8.

Now stats are not everything but they do tell a story. Some will argue it doesn't matter and that the table placement is the only thing that matters and yes in the end it's only about placement. But in the long run, stats won't lie.

We've had an abnormal amount of goals and DDG has saved us many points. How long can we keep that up? Really is there much difference compared to last year? We have more points but we don't look like a better team.
