There's big politics at work here. Abramovic has to straddle both Putin, whose locking up the russian billionaires, and the british / yank states who're going after russia.

If Roman had pledged his allegiance to Putin he'd be out. But if he'd have pledged allegiance to the british state, he'd be safe. But russia would want him dead.
