Obviously there is nothing wrong in females playing soccer ,rugby cricket or whatever they choose , but just because its female doesn't make it worth watching.In this case women's football is men's tier 9 standard , if that, with a serious overfunding of the female game by the FA and the ott coverage by the Beeb ( no surprise there)
It cannot compare to most top men's amateur football but where is the funding for that ? That's my objection.
Women's tennis is appealing to the photographers but not for standard the women's game .
It's a fad (female football) that will pass , I don't know anyone other than the friends / relatives of the players that would pay to watch ? Most of the attendees ( at the mini emptyhad) are attracted by the free tickets given out .
As for City and a women's team with the owners from a country with the worst oppressive attitudes to females.
You have to laugh.
But each to ones own.
As for Phil Neville does someone have to have the history of everything they ever say ( esp in jest) hang over them for the rest of their life .The worlds gone mad.

In america womens football has been more popular than the mens for years. Also read that 1.25 million people watched the last womens world cup. But apparently nobody wants to watch it, Pint?

Your words not mine F ...........imho Women's tennis is rubbish but I can't disagree it has an audience , I,m not that much of a tennis fan anyway but a great game to play though.
I,m sure Female football will get better in time I have no problem with that ,my annoyance is the bias in the funding and coverage , you will find that opinion amongst lower grade football.
FC Utd amongst others play some 15 minutes away from the Emptyhad and have double plus the attendances of the city women and all pay but get very little if no funding from the FA and zero coverage .
The standard of FC etc is a million miles from the women so what's where's the interest just because it's a female? The Beeb have a similar inclusive agenda for women's Cricket .Where does it end?
Absolutely no problem with girls playing ,officiating ,managing women's football.
I may have old fashioned attitude towards it ,but it's my opinion.

Ok, Pint. I certainly read something into what you said but "Women's tennis is appealing to the photographers but not for standard the women's game" just seemed to me that you were implying it was only lechery that kept up the interest. Do please clarify.

I can understand your annoyance in the apparent disparity of the funding involved but did you read this that was published on the bbc website last summer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/4 ... s-football ? for me, it tends to explain why the FA might be going a bit overboard to redress the balance (in your eyes) and why they still might not be going overboard enough (in other people's eyes)

Average att for women's USA. 26,000

And that's in a country where Women's football has a similar popularity to the men's game.

Your first observation .......I was implying that in some publications and coverage.
Secondly that's why it's taken nigh on 100 years and a bit of research by your good self to discover that on the agenda Beeb ( we have been here before with my opinion of our government broadcaster, another thread)

At the risk I have no problem with women playing football my ire is with the unequal funding from the respective FA,s because that cash has been generated by men's football of all standards.

My other gripe why would you choose to televise Man City women v ? when quite clearly the only reason is the gender ,and not televise say FCUtd v Salford City e.g the standard of football betwixt fixtures is immeasurable.

Just to add another annoyance was the appointment of a women's linesperson the other night v Yeovil. Stick to the women's game .
