Jovic to Madrid for 52m. Barca have got Griezmann all but done. This is how big clubs operate; don't fuck about, get in there early before others have a chance.

Woodwaard will end up with the scraps. He'll spend 3 months negotiating for Swansea's Daniel James who we'll fail to sign on deadline day.
What you are glossing over is that the big clubs have that 'pull'. When Real approached Jovic, he wasn't going to go anywhere else. Griezmann has always been on Barca's radar (except for that one transfer window when we might have signed him) and it was pretty much a done deal because Antoine wants to go there.

When it comes to us signing up our 1st choice targets, the biggest problem is that they don't really want to come to us. We are at best a 2nd tier club now. And so the only way to get the cunts is to offer them more dough than, say, Barca. This is what has been happening since LvG and one of the main problems that needs addressing.

And so if the club only signed 'who's he' players this summer, it might be a good thing.
I think that's the key point. We're not competing for the same players Real, Barca, City and Bayern will want. We need to be in for players who see United as a step up, players who're hungry to come here. Even in our current state, we'll be a huge draw for many of the players we could be after. For example, Wan-Bissaka. Who wouldn't leave Palace for United? Liverpool nor City will be in for a right back. Get it done. Iddrissa Gueye, or Ndidi. Get in, a big sized take-it-or-leave it type offer, get it done. We'll know which players want to come here, and there are plenty who'd be gettable and who'd get us back to being a top 4, entertaining side. Don't fuck about, just get it done.

Bayern needed a couple of full backs - they've got Pavard and Lucas Hernandez (2 world cup winners) in the bag already too.

Even when we were quality, we fucked about with transfers.

We've done plenty of 'who's he?'

Fred, Dalot, Lindelof, Bailly, Martial, Darmian, Rojo, Blind

Our recruitment sucks however we do it

...I thought he was supposed to be pretty good?

Early days yet but tis is typical of our last half-a-dozen transfer windows. We get linked with everyone that will generate a headline, while other clubs are signing players.

This is the new approach: affordable british buys on lower wages to balance to the books after Joses half a billion blow out and the biggest wage bill in sport. This failed approach by Woodward / Glazers is the main reason we have this toxic culture of spending big on average players and rewarding em with massive wages. Fair play to em for changing tact. But does britain produce enough modern quality players or are we going to remain average, just with a more sustainable wage bill etc

That's why Woodward signed up the english defensive shite in Young, Jones and Smalling when we didn't have a full time manager - because they want to play for the club. Shit but will put in a shift, that's the new mantra.

Also right, one last point, if Woodward can't land these low level british cunts pretty swiftly, from shite clubs we have relationships with, then he really is the definition of fucking useless. We should call him marzipan dildo.

Getting linked with every big name available in the transfer market is what Woodward has done since his first year in charge of player acquisition. He is like a Magpie; he is attracted to any shinny object, especially if someone else might also want it, then without any idea of where the player might fit into the overall team plan, he pays way over the going rate. Agents are not stupid; they realized quickly that having their clients linked with United is good for them and that United hasn’t had the best in talent evaluation since Sir Alex retired.

Woodward should stick to selling the badge to sponsors and leave the players to footballing people.

Jovic looks the real deal and a better bit of business than Barca buying Griezmann.
