At this point we need a mass plague to kill around 7 billion people to have any chance of the earth surviving.
We're pretty fucked as it is.
Have you read the book sapiens? Basically makes you despise the human race.

They've/we've been ignoring the problem for around 50 years, Sid.

https://blogs.ei.columbia.edu/files/200 ... ming75.pdf

The article in question starts to the bottom right of the second page of that pdf. First mention of "global warming" in the peer-reviewed scientific literature... 1975

This is not the first instance of scientists predicting climatic change... goes back into the 60s.

1912! I think by the 80s, oil companies had already done the research and started the cover up.

Incredible to think there are always people out there who see an opportunity to make a few quid: "You'll be needing a better fan when the world ends..."

The madness of billionaires investing a bit of their wealth into helping prevent the climate crisis, while investing in the shit that's causing it; fracking, logging, fossil fuels etc

We need to bypass billionaires and politicians entirely. Make them irrelevant. The latter are just the reflect action of big business and industry. Asking or forcing them to act won't work, they'll just give us more plastic straw bullshit to quieten the flak. It's probably going to have to be climate terrorism. But even then for me the state forces are too strong.

Just saw a semi emergency weather broadcast on the BBC that said that heatwave drastically fastforwarded the melting of the ice in the arctic https://www.independent.co.uk/environme ... 30361.html

Turns out ice melting only accoints for 30% of sea level rise, the other 70% is because warm water expands. So we're looking at hull being underwater in my lifetime. And I don't see the government investing billions in preventing it (if it's even possible) like they did the thames barrier in london because we're economically unimportant to them.

It's gonna start getting real for people soon

Yeah, 10 feet puts some of britains coastal towns under water. I want to know what the government is doing to stop it - if there even is anything. But a recent study said they literally have no plan because they're not listening.

That recent heatwave in europe caused a 0.5mm rise in just one month https://www.independent.co.uk/environme ... 30361.html
