What Do You Think?
Ed & Paul cover one of the most boring games to have been played during the show’s run: United’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup third round. There are questions from the listeners, and one from Louis van Gaal, whose future is discussed at some length. Your intrepid hosts update last week’s preview of the forthcoming trip to St James’ Park, and stare confidently into the future with talk of a triumphant forthcoming win at Anfield.

I am seething in anger on what Woodward and Van Gaal is doing to Manchester United. Ed sack Van Gaal 4 fuck sake
What’s wrong with me???!?!?!?! I cannot wait to watch today’s game… and this outro-song just makes me want it more!!!
Come on you Reds!!!
United to win 3-0 at Newcastle and 2-1 at Anfield!!!
ha. ha. ha. ha. 3-fooking-3… shoot me now!
I am looking forward to how LvG is gonna be blamed on that.
Smalling implodes, Lingard and FuzzyTree miss sitters, and we are playing exciting football. Please, tell me how this is blamed on LVG.
The Newcastle game was ‘exciting’ because van Gaal’s system failed. United did not dominate possession in the usual way and so the game was more open and if you like, more entertaining.
Don’t worry, the United players will have four days of intensive possession/defence training and we will probably be back to 0-0, or thereabouts, at Anfield.
How did your mate Wayne go eh? Finished? Is he fuck.
I hate to say it but we could be in for a bit of a drubbing on Sunday. The spirit in the team looks non existent. I could not believe how poor we were against Sheffield and then that idiot tried to turn it on the press ny asking why are we not asking why Sheffield didn’t have any shots on target? Believe me the Scousers are starting to blend under Klopp and when they smell blood they will deal our wounded animal of a team no mercy. Get rid of the fool!
Interesting podcast fellas despite the repetitive sensation of being on a merry-go-round.
One thing has become quite clear in my mind. I really do dislike van Gaal as a person, not just as a ‘trainer/coach’. His unwillingness to take any responsibility for the short comings and the unacceptable performances of his team, is breathtaking in its arrogance. Van Gaal has in turn, blamed the players, the fans, the media and opposition teams – anyone but himself. (He even took a somewhat indirect pop at young Paul).
The man has the demeanour and attitude akin to that of a Third World tin-pot dictator, and the sooner he is toppled, the better.
Whilst I may not be an internationally renowned ‘trainer coach’, can somebody please explain the following to me.
1. If a midfield player has 20m of space ahead of him then why would he not attack at least 10m and then make a decision as to whether he goes on or looks for a pass, specifically as he has a team mate to cover the space he leaves.
2. When you play with 2 holding midfielders why do our full backs seem so reluctant to overlap in an attempt to get crosses in the box.
3. Why is a lack of movement amongst our front line players viewed as an effective tactic.
Not sure why anybody is surprised about the arrogance of LVG – his reputation definitely proceeded him.
