It has been a busy fortnight since the last Rant Cast. José Mourinho’s side lost at Stamford Bridge – again – the manager criticised the fans – again – and everybody was bored by the international break – again.

Ed & Paul look back on defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League – a loss that leaves United seven points behind City, and with just one league victory in four. Is this just a blip or has Mourinho’s side hit its limited – a team that just isn’t very good? Also on the show – listener questions and a look ahead to the weekend’s game against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Completely agree Paul, 4-2-3-1 is a handicap, 4-3-3 would be the way forward, McTominay and Herrera alongside Matic, and Martial and Rashford alongside Lukaku. Completely agree Ed, we will instead see Fellaini, Mata and flop Mkhitarian. Anfield wasn’t the season-breaker, building the formation around the Armenian is. Woodward musn’t blink as Mendes instructs Mourinho to flirt with PSG; do we really think Neymar and Mbappe with all their political power would tolerate 0-0 tactics at that club?
