December looks like a busy month.

They're said they would stagger the season start times for clubs that had games after the Prem finshed. But they've only given us 1 weeks extra rest, so that isn't great coming off the back of a 61 game season that went on for over a year.

It's only a month away, so preseason will have to start in a couple of weeks? Not sure how it's gonna work tbh. But there's not a lot of time. We aren't gonna be ready like normal.

Thanks fatty. I've stickied this and un-stickied last year's thread.

Given how knackered our players look, I’ve got a bad feeling about the new season. There has been a pattern in the PL in recent years of clubs yo-yo-ing in and out of the CL spots, and clubs that don’t have European football jumping up near the top of the league. Not many have the squads to compete on all fronts. And this time the summer break is extremely short and our squad extremely thin. We need some reinforcements, and we need them ASAP.

Yeah, even in Ole's first season with us, after Jose's sacking, he did great but the wheels started to come off in the tail end of the season.
He keeps talking about United outworking the opposition, so I suppose this might be taking its toll. Perhaps it isn't sustainable to have the same players keep playing all games, especially for Ole.
We have only 3 above average forwards who can't be benched or substituted even if they play like crap. Same goes for our full backs and a couple of midfielders.

The kids might have to play the first month while the first teamers rest, that way they can have a longer rest and come back refreshed. I've just checked the fixtures and loads of Prem clubs start their preseason's on saturday. It's a joke. We don't even have anything booked. Like I said they only start a week earlier than us and they're preparing now. Honestly not making the Europa final is a blessing cos the season still wouldn't have finished.

Tough calls needed. Those who were basically first 11 after the restart, need 4 weeks off. Then 2-3 weeks training. Which means they miss the forst 2-3 games. So be it. Let the stiffs play those games and hope for those best. Or we'll hit a wall after a month.

Still no preseason fixtures announced. Or preseason tbf. It's the community shield tomorrow. Prem starts next weekend.

Looks like we're just not going to have any warm up games and go straight into the season. Mad.

Wait, the Prem doesn't start til next weekend. Normally it follows the weekend after the community shield? They must be giving em an extra weeks rest.

Anyway the squad returned to training today, so they'll have just over 2 weeks preparation before the first match. And no preseason matches up to now. This is shorter than the prep post lockdown - and the players were knackered after about 8 games.

You can't condition your body to to play a full season in just 2 and a bit weeks, it's mad - especially with no competitive 90 min matches.

Yeah I think it’s going to be a rough season. Ole will have to trust his bench more, because since taking over he tends to pick the best available 11 every single game. The only exceptions are some real dead rubber games.
