We’ve lost half our games since Ronaldo joined us.
We've got a problem here. In a side like City, that dominates games, he'd be fine. But with us, we're just not set up to really play to his strengths. You can see how pissed off he is. With Cavani, he presses from the front. With Ronaldo, everything is at walking pace, and we lack the technical ability in defence and midfield to play slow tempo, controlled football.
And I worry about whether he's too big for some others in the dressing room.
I don’t just want to blame it all on Ronny. But whatever transfer strategy we had obviously got thrown by the wayside when we signed him. We did not need another forward. He probably could have been great for City, but I don’t think you should ever sign someone to stop someone else signing them. We could have Greenwood having a breakthrough season up top, with another space available for Sancho or someone.
In other news, Lindelof was good yesterday, our only player who did well, except De Gea. Maguire looks good when he’s in a back three that sits deep, like England and Leicester play, but he hasn’t got the quality to be in a title-winning back two. The hype would have you think that, already in his mid 20s, he suddenly became good enough to go from the Championship to champions league…
