Oh yeah, since Ferguson left, as far as I’m concerned, it’s the club that’s failed, not the managers. From the moment Moyes took over, we’ve seen the same shit again and again, most obviously shocking incompetence when it comes to transfers and squad management. That’s a systemic problem in the club, it’s obviously not the fault of the managers.
It’s not the only problem, but it’s the most obvious problem. No manager can succeed when our approach to buying and selling players is so ridiculously shit.
Erik Ten Hag
And then the club and players’ agents always start shitting on the manager. They said Moyes was out of his depth, that Gaal was too inflexible, that Jose was too toxic, that Ole was too nice, that Rangnick was too nerdy. There might be some truth to those criticisms, but they’re all people who’ve done well elsewhere. It’s United that is consistently shit in exactly the same ways every season. Shit and getting worse actually.

It's been on the slide since 2009. The summer Ronaldo and Tevez left and we replaced them with Valencia, Obertan and Owen.
The last 3 years of recruitment under Fergie were garbage - it was only his genius and the fact he eeked what was left out of Rooney and his aging pros that we stayed at the top. But the squad was eroded year on year.
They say that the best time to strengthen is when you're at the top. After our back to back CL finals, look at our recruitment:
2009
Valencia
Owen
Obertan
2010
Bebe
Smalling
Chicarito
Lindegaard
2011
De Gea
Jones
Young
2012
Van Persie
Kagawa
Zaha
Powell
Butter
With the exception of Persie it's a list of shite and averageness. The rot was well and truly setting in before it became more obviously exposed.

Liverpool sacked Rodgers early in the season and brought Klopp on board. They never looked back. That’s the sort of decisive action we need now. TH is not up to it, there’s no point dragging this out. The club needs to move now to bring in Poch before one of the other big PL clubs does.

After a handful of friendlies and 1 competitive game? Have you seriously written ETH off that soon?bman2 wrote: ↑1 year ago Liverpool sacked Rodgers early in the season and brought Klopp on board. What will Poch do differently? Stand up to the owners like he did at Spurs and PSG?
That's the problem with football these days, it's become as disposeable as the rest of society.
Ten hag is only recruiting players he knows. This is a big red flag. I'm surprised the club didn't catch this when they interviewed him.fat maradona wrote: ↑1 year agoAfter a handful of friendlies and 1 competitive game? Probably because the United scouts are so fucking shit. You can see it's a dysfunctional department because we are now being linked with all and sundry. If that department was doing it's job, we wouldn't be making knee jerk signings. When they knew Greenwood was finished at the club and that Cavani wasn't staying and that you can't rely on Martial, what did they do? Fuck all is what they did. And then they want to sign the Arnautovic when the likes of Bellotti are going on a free.dozer wrote: ↑1 year agoTen hag is only recruiting players he knows. This is a big red flag. You're right, it's a bit concerning that he only wants to sign players that he has worked with but maybe that's because he knows just how huge the job is at United and he's trying to eliminate the margins of error when signing players unknown to him. We've signed plenty in the past that haven't worked out and he's probably seen that stat and decided better the devil you know.

To my knowledge Ten Hag has never been involved in signings. At Ajax it was left to Van Der Sar, Overmars and their excellent recruiting department. Hag is clearly a coach.
Now he's reliant on Murtough and Arnold who are it seems going to Hag for ideas because they have none of their own.
To blame Hag for the signings is nonsense. If he is signing players then why? He's inexperienced. Whoever gave him that responsibility has fucked up. Also it means Murtough and his team clearly aren't doing their job so why are they there.
