Matic created james’ goal. His quality is under appreciated. Has composure and passing that fed and McT never will. It’s a shame he’s so slow.
I think Fernandes got a touch, so it's his assist. It's not like Matic meant that pass to go to James either.

I refuse to have anything positive said about the dosser.
:)) :)) :))

beat me to it, I was just about to troll bman for those comments
You’re in denial, Matic has won this for us! He’s been doing Pogba’s job, creating from midfield.
He's been a tad more progressive than usual, which is a requirement in this 11 so not worthy of praise. But even so, he picks the safe pass so ofteb. Rashford was in behind out wide twice and Matic doesn't even look. He chose a safer pass even though it was more difficult. He makes Carrick look like Xavi.

Watch him, and think of Pog, or a box to box mid, and you realise how limited he is. And how much he walks.
Matic is a DM first and foremost, so yeah he tends to keep it safe. That’s his job. But unlike Fred or McT, he is capable of more penetrating passing, and sometimes he does it. He won this match for us, he created the second and third goal. And if you saw him passing safely afterwards, we’ll yeah, that’s his job. The game is won, his job is to see it out. He is a Mourinho player after all.

Fair’s fair, Matic made a very big difference tonight. And if it hadn’t come form him, it’s hard to see where it would have come from, because no one else deeper than Bruno was creating anything.

Whoever you credit with playing well, would you all agree with me that this is another example of us winning a match through the simple fact that we have better players than most teams? If anything Newcastle looked better coached and played better, until some goals against the run of play broke their spirits.

Yeah, definitely. There was no real gameplan, we relied on individuals combining to create the goals in an otherwise flat performance. We were also helped greatly by the fact Newcastle have no CF otherwise they would have probably made more of their possession.

Tbf to Ole we aren't going to get a style or philosophy or whatever in a season were there's so little training & prep cos of the fixture pile up. They're just winging it. We needed to have it input into their brains before covid happened.
